AREAS OF SPECIALTY

  • Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health

Life during pregnancy and the postpartum period is filled with many transitions and stressors. These changes can feel overwhelming and lead to feelings of worry, irritability, sadness, disappointment, guilt and much more. Perhaps you’re struggling with the circumstances of your pregnancy – maybe it was unexpected or has been different from the experience you imagined. You may be feeling anxious about the idea of labor or you might be navigating a high-risk pregnancy. Many feel unsure about how they will manage life with a newborn, whether you’re a first-time parent or have other children to care for at home. Maybe you are finding it difficult to enjoy time with your new baby or to express your needs to your partner/family, causing you to feel down and isolated. Are you having challenges with breastfeeding that is leading to feelings of failure or feeling distressed by external pressure to breastfeed even if this is not the choice you have made for your family?

Whatever this time looks like for you, your experience is VALID and IMPORTANT. You are not alone and you deserve support to cope with these challenges.

  • Birth Trauma

Did you have a labor and delivery experience that did not go as you planned or hoped? Maybe your baby had to spend time in the NICU or unexpected medical intervention was needed for one or both of you. You may have been separated from your child and experienced prolonged states of uncertainty and fear. These experiences often feel very traumatic and can lead to depression, anxiety, self-blame, flashbacks, heightened reactions, unwanted thoughts and memories, and ongoing emotional distress. It may feel as though others expect you to “move on” if you have been able to take your baby home, but for you this is not an easy task. Perhaps you constantly feel worried about your child’s safety and find it difficult experience joy. We can work together to address the symptoms you’re experiencing and create space to process the difficult experience you endured.

  • Pregnancy & Infant Loss

Are you struggling to cope in the time following a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss? You may feel like others expect you to “get over it” or as if it is not acceptable to talk about the child you have lost. This might be causing you to feel depressed, isolated, invalidated, unseen, or angry. Perhaps you’re craving space to acknowledge and remember your child so that you can move forward and integrate this loss into your story in a way that honors them. You may not have had the space to grieve the hopes and dreams you held for this child and your family, even though these were very real for you. Therapy can offer you space for healing and specialized support.

  • Self-Care for Parents

As a parent or caregiver, you are constantly putting the needs of your children above your own and juggling many moving parts to help your family function. Self-care is often the first thing to go when you’re taking care of others. This can create feelings of overwhelm, depression, and anxiety which begin to impact various areas of your life. You may find yourself struggling to manage your own stress while parenting, leading to irritability, lashing out, resentment, shutting down, or finding ways to numb out. You might be finding it hard to find joy in the small or even big moments with your children because you feel like you never get a break. Many parents compare themselves to others who seem to have it all together and hold themselves to these unrealistic expectations, which can contribute to feelings of inadequacy. Together, we will create space and time for YOU. We will identify strategies to help you achieve balance where you can and take care of the parts of you that may feel neglected.

Choose healing and self-care.

“By taking care of myself, I have so much more to offer the world than I do when I am running on empty.”

Good Faith Estimate

Notice to clients and prospective clients:

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
